What Size Wedding Is Right For You: Large vs Boutique

Wedding planning presents a million decisions that you will need to make. These big and small decisions will determine exactly how you want to spend your big day. In order to get yourself on the right track, you have to start with the basics. First things first (and it’s not always a simple choice) you have to decide whether you want a large wedding, or a small, boutique wedding.

We all have a pretty good perception of what a large, more traditional wedding looks like. Boutique weddings, however, have been deemed a bit more “untraditional.” However, since COVID we’ve seen smaller, more intimate gatherings take the cake (no pun intended).

So, the big decision still stands. Do you want a large or boutique-sized wedding? Here are a few things to consider while deciding between the two!

Budget

When it comes to large vs. boutique weddings, it’s all about where you want your money to go, and what your priorities are. For large weddings, you would hypothetically be spending the money on incorporating more guests. For boutique weddings, you can use the budget you would have on extra people on other elements that you want in your dream wedding. This money could go into decorations, florals, lighting or a live band.

Venues

You’re likely familiar with some extravagant large venues for weddings with lots of people. Those really cool venues are definitely a good reason to have a large wedding. However, you may run into a lot of difficulties booking these. If you don’t mind being flexible with timing, you may still consider giving the big wedding a go.

There are also a lot of cool smaller venues that can be very unique and have a great intimate feel. Greystone Castle is very special because it is a perfect fit for both large and intimate weddings.

The Guest List

This may be where things get complicated. One of the biggest pros of having a large wedding is that you can invite whoever you want, and not have people's feelings get hurt. There’s a lot to take into consideration, and these decisions vary from person to person. Even if you know how many people you want, sending out invites can be difficult. Having a small guest list can cost you more thought-out decisions.

Who You Are

But even after all that is considered, this is your day. A lot of your decision can depend on how social you and your fiance are. Do you like the party scene? Do you prefer peacefulness and intimacy? Really ask yourselves these questions. You want a wedding where you can feel comfortable and make the most out of that day. When you envision your perfect wedding, what does it look like?

Hopefully, this blog helped guide you in one way or another. At Greystone Castle, our boutique weddings can be 10-50 people. Larger size celebrations can accommodate up to 200 guests. So, whichever wedding celebration you and your partner decide to host, Greystone Castle can accommodate.
